How to Spot a Shill

The etymology definition of a shill is “one who acts as a decoy for a gambler, auctioneer, etc.,” 1916, probably originally circus or carnival argot, probably a shortened form of shillaber (1913) with the same meaning, origin unknown. The verb is attested from 1914. Related: Shilled; shilling.

There are many shills spruiking their message, standing on their soap boxes vying for your attention. At this point I feel like I am Kath telling Kim to “look at me” in my endeavour to clarify and simplify what is really going on right now.

There is a lot going on right now and it’s easy to become overwhelmed and distracted from the truth and a real remedy.

When I talk about shills, it is important to clarify that there are two types of shills, some are intentional shills, controlled opposition they are a protest
movement that is actually being led by government agents. Nearly all governments in history have employed this technique to trick and subdue their adversaries. Notably Vladimir Lenin who said ””The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves.”

Then there are the unintentional shills. They have no idea that they are being played and used to push an agenda that is perhaps not in alignment with their ‘at heart’ intention.

Useful tips

Turn the T.V. and social media off and step away from the fear porn.
Take some deep breaths, connect to yourself and listen to your heart.
