Soap Scum, the scurge of the modern world is formed into a solid substance when soap is being used in hard water. On a scientific level, soap scum combines calcium and magnesium particles (ions) that are currently in the water with the soap, which forms into the soap scum substance.
I have been on a cleaning journey to find the most effective and non toxic method of cleaning a shower. I have spent many a time, in mini bathroom gas chambers, scrubbing and spraying in desperation to get the sparkley, shiney result that I seems to be an urban myth.
The magical formula
The magical Scum removing formula is:
- 50% white vinegar
- 50% dish washing liquid
Place in a bowl and microwave for 1 minute and then decant into a spray bottle.
Method of application
- Spray generously on the shower screen and tiles.
- Leave for 15 minutes.
- Using a scouring pad, gently rub the spray abrasing the glass and tiles.
- Rinse with water
- Remove excess water with a squeegy.
- Celebrate with a happy dance!
